Partners at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany Reach New Efficiency Benchmark

Our partners at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany have achieved a breakthrough in solar cell efficiency, reaching a record-breaking 24.4% efficiency for triple junction perovskite-perovskite silicon cells. Led by Ulrich W. Paetzold, their research focused on optimizing the middle perovskite sub-cell and integrating materials such as poly-Si on oxide junctions to address current mismatch and maximize current generation. This innovation overcomes challenges in high-quality perovskite thin films and light management among interconnected sub-cells, marking a significant advancement in perovskite-based photovoltaics and paving the way for future solar technology enhancements.
